Welcome to our Team Tillis newsletter, where we discuss what Thom has been up
to from the campaign trail to Capitol Hill, and everything in between!

Dear Friend,

It was another busy week here in Washington, but we’re excited about the
progress being made each day.

As we continue to roll through Senate confirmation hearings from President
Donald J. Trump’s cabinet picks, one thing is sure: He has selected outstanding
leaders to forge ahead with the America First agenda, and we’ve never been more
optimistic about the future!

We’re also counting down the days to President Trump’s historic inauguration,
which will be the official start of a GOP trifecta that creates positive
change. From the border to the economy, there’s a lot to tackle—and Republicans
are ready to deliver.

Stay tuned as Senator Tillis works to ensure this new era brings safety and
prosperity to North Carolinians and all Americans. We’re just getting started!

Confirmations: Pam Bondi for Attorney General

<[link removed]>

Confirmation hearings are well underway, and Thom is taking part in a number
of them in the committees he serves on. First up was Pam Bondi. With a
distinguished career as a prosecutor, it’s clear that she will be an
outstanding Attorney General who will apply the law without bias.

As Florida’s Attorney General, Pam has fought tirelessly to take dangerous
criminals off the streets, and she enjoyed bipartisan support as an advocate
for victims of the opioid crisis. She’s also dedicated extensive time to
dismantling drug cartels, disrupting organized crime, and strengthening public
safety across the state.

Try as they may to question her credibility, Democrats are coming up short.
Pam stood firm against baseless attacks and reaffirmed her commitment to
upholding the Constitution and protecting the American people.

As Thom put it, the marketing department for her opposition is going to have
to come up with new material—because their games are getting old. Pam has
proven that she has the experience and vision necessary to serve as the
nation’s top law enforcement officer, and Thom looks forward to voting for her
confirmation in the Senate Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor.

Confirmations: Scott Bessent for Treasury Secretary

Another confirmation hearing Thom had a front row seat for was for Treasury
Secretary nominee Scott Bessent, who is highly qualified and ready to implement
President Trump’s economic agenda.

Scott Bessent’s story is another example of the American Dream. He
understands firsthand the struggles of working families and shares our
commitment to ensuring future generations have the same opportunities.

Thom has called on his Republican colleagues to extend Trump’s tax cuts,
warning that 93 million Americans will face crushing financial burdens if
Congress fails to act—and Scott has expressed agreement that failure to do so
is not an option.

Legislative Highlights: End Child Trafficking Now Act

Under the Biden administration, thousands of unaccompanied children have
crossed the Southern border with the help of strangers and cartels, and the
devastating result has been a spike in cases of sexual abuse and human
trafficking.

Knowing that something must be done, Thom and ten of his Republican Senate
colleagues took a big step this week to protect children from the chaos,
introducing theEnd Child Trafficking Now Act. This bill would require a DNA
test to determine the relationship between illegal immigrants coming across the
border and any accompanying children.

Specifically, the legislation would:

* Require DHS to deport illegal immigrants if they refuse a DNA test;
* Impose a maximum 10-year prison sentence for illegal immigrant adults who
fabricate family ties or guardianship over a minor;
* Criminalize “child recycling,” which happens when the same child is used
over and over to gain entry by illegal immigrants who are neither relatives nor
legal guardians; and
* Require DHS to process the child as an unaccompanied minor under current
law if family ties or legal guardianship cannot be proven with the accompanying
adult.
President Biden’s refusal to enforce our immigration laws was completely
unacceptable, and this legislation is a commonsense, humane reform that will
put an end to the madness.
