The first day after the wildfires began in California, Pasadena Humane reported taking in over 300 displaced pets, including many suffering from burns and injuries. That was just the beginning.
The need is enormous.
The Humane Society of the United States is working to provide local veterinary clinics and animal welfare organizations with at least $1 million in emergency aid, coordinating with local officials to support on-the-ground efforts, and has prepared their Animal Rescue Team.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science reports "Human-caused climate change is a significant contributor to the increasing size, intensity, and damage of western U.S. wildfires, and to a lengthening of U.S. fire seasons."
But billionaires like the Koch Brothers and the Wilks Brothers, and giant corporations like ExxonMobil, have spent decades funding climate denialism and blocking legislative action to keep their profits rolling in.
Because of them and the politicians they've bought off, we face a dual challenge. While the fight continues to make the massive changes necessary to combat the climate crisis and try to hold perpetrators accountable, we must also provide relief to the most vulnerable among us who are often the most directly impacted by climate-fueled disasters.
In recent days, PCCC members have generously contributed over $5,000 toward helping families in need recover from the wildfires.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
