The Council/Mayor Briefing on Tuesday focused on preparations for the upcoming Presidential Inauguration. The meeting provided a platform for the D.C. Council and Mayor Bowser's administration to align efforts and ensure a successful event.

Key highlights from the meeting included:

• Discussions on public safety measures to manage large crowds and dignitaries.
• Coordination with local and federal agencies to facilitate seamless planning.
• Logistical arrangements to support the smooth flow of events during the inauguration.

The briefing underscored the importance of collaboration across government branches to deliver a safe and orderly inauguration experience.

Team McDuffie In The Community

This week, I had the honor of speaking at the We Empower Women: The Executive Women of Color Brunch held at BWI Marshall Airport. The theme, "The Year of Resiliency," highlighted the strength, determination, and achievements of women leaders who continue to inspire and uplift our communities.

This gathering brought together women from diverse professions, creating an authentic atmosphere where they felt represented and honored. The event featured esteemed speakers, including Baltimore City Administrator Faith Leach, a fireside chat with Jan Adams, Dr. Linda Singh, and Shelonda Stokes, remarks from Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy, and a keynote speech from Barbara Arnwine of the Transformative Justice Coalition.

Founded in 2019 by LaTara Harris, We Empower Women Inc. is a vibrant community of executive women joining forces to support and empower one another in their unique journeys. The organization focuses on helping women unlock their full potential and become their best selves through impactful events centered around wellness, financial literacy, and mental health.

I am proud to support such an empowering event and to stand alongside these remarkable women as we work together to build stronger, more inclusive communities. Let us continue to celebrate and uplift the voices of women leaders who pave the way for progress and inspire future generations.

This Tuesday, January 14th, Team McDuffie proudly participated in a Multi-Agency Community Meet-Up at Hechinger Mall. The gathering brought together residents and representatives from Wards 5 and 7 to discuss public safety initiatives and challenges in the area.

Agencies in attendance included:

• Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)

• Department of Behavioral Health (DBH)

• Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA)

• Mayor's Office of Community Relations and Services (MOCRS)

We were also joined by new Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) 5D06, Char McCray, whose leadership and insight are vital to addressing the needs of our community.
