On the inauguration of Donald Trump, we choose to celebrate and honor the life of Martin Luther King Jr.
We face a critical moment in history. Donald Trump’s proposed actions threaten the very fabric of justice, equality, and freedom that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. so fiercely championed and that we as Californians have fought for these last several decades. Dr. King reminded us that “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Now is not the time for silence—it is the time for raise our voices together and take action.

We are a multi-generational movement to mobilize Californians to advance the common dream of a good life, quality education, safety for our families and a place to call home. Join us and plug in to the local organizations near you doing the work!
We must resist policies that divide our communities, deny basic human rights, and threaten the progress we have fought so hard to achieve. From attacks on immigrants and refugees to rollbacks on civil rights and environmental protections to more tax breaks for corporations and the 1% that come at the expense of working people, we cannot and will not stand idly by.
In the months ahead, we will need each other. Californians know how to come together to protect and help one another through crises. We saw it in LA and Southern California as masses of people mobilized mutual aid for those devastated by the climate disaster. In Bakersfield and across the Central Valley, community members mobilized to verify sightings of immigration enforcement, and shared credible information to protect and defend their immigrant neighbors from enforcement actions conducted by border patrol agents.
We call on every Californian to join us in organizing, mobilizing, and resisting. Speak out, show up, and fight for the values of justice, equality, and dignity for all people. Together, we can and will rise against injustice. The time is now. Let’s move toward progress, not one step back.
