Katie Britt blasts Democrats’ lies about Pam Bondi during hearing: ‘I wish the
gaslighting on the other side of the aisle would stop’

<[link removed]>

U.S. Senator Katie Britt praised President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for
U.S. Attorney General during the confirmation hearing Wednesday.

Trump’s nominee Pam Bondi spoke and answered questions in front of the Senate
Judiciary Committee about how she would lead the Justice Department in the new
administration.

This was Britt’s first hearing as a part of the Judiciary Committee after
being newly appointed to the committee.

Britt told Bondi that she is “immensely qualified” for the role.

After pressure from Britt and Tuberville, FDA bans red dye No. 3 from all U.S.
food products

<[link removed]>

The Food and Drug Administration announced on Wednesday that it is banning the
use of Red Dye N0. 3 in all foods produced in America. The organization has
come under fire recently from legislators on both sides of the aisle for
allowing the dye’s continued use in foods despite studies indicating it
contains possible carcinogens and could have detrimental effects on
neurological development.

“The FDA is taking action that will remove the authorization for the use of
FD&C Red No. 3 in food and ingested drugs,” said Jim Jones, the FDA’s deputy
commissioner for human foods. “Evidence shows cancer in laboratory male rats
exposed to high levels of FD&C Red No.3. Importantly, the way that FD&C Red No.
3 causes cancer in male rats does not occur in humans.”

Leading the charge against the use of harmful dyes in foods are Senators Tommy
Tuberville and Katie Britt. Both elected officials have expressed the
importance of reevaluating the use of dyes in foods, with both calling for the
total ban of Red No. 3 and Red 40. Officials with the FDA recently said that
Red 40 hasn’t been evaluated in more than a decade.

Katie Britt, Ted Cruz introduce constitutional amendment to impose term limits
for Congress

<[link removed]>

U.S. Sens. Katie Britt and Ted Cruz (R-Texas) reintroduced an amendment to the
U.S. Constitution to impose term limits on members of Congress on Monday.

The proposed amendment would limit U.S. Senators to two six-year terms and
U.S. House of Representatives members to three two-year terms.

According to Britt, term limits would get Congress "working for the American
people once again."

"Our country deserves leaders truly accountable to the people they serve,
which is why I proudly cosponsored the U.S. Term Limits Amendment as one of my
first actions in the 119th Congress. I am honored to fight for Alabamians and
will continue supporting reforms to get Washington working for the American
people once again," Britt said while announcing the amendment.
