Dear Friends,

Happy Friday! Great achievements were made in the Second District this past week. I officially signed off on the Red Line Extension Project, increasing transit equity and job opportunities for residents of the Far South Side. This will create the very first CTA train station in our district.

In international news, a ceasefire agreement has finally been reached in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I hope that this marks the beginning of long-awaited peace in Gaza.

Tree Planting Projects Announced in the District

The Morton Arboretum has gifted nearly $8 million in tree equity grants to disadvantaged communities across Illinois. Four of these communities — Markham, Riverdale Park District, Chicago Heights, and the Chicago Heights Park District, are in the Second District.

Securing this funding has been a great victory. It will transform our green spaces by planting new trees and maintaining old ones. With healthy trees comes increased biodiversity, improved air quality, and a way to continue combatting climate change.

I am looking forward to a greener, more environmentally-friendly future for our district.

Swearing In of the 119th Congress

Last week, I signed my oath of office and was sworn into the 119th Congress. I am honored to continue serving as your representative in Washington.

This year, I am renewing my commitment to serving all Second District communities, from Chicago, to Rantoul, to Westville. I am delighted to continue working alongside my fellow colleagues to deliver for you, and for the nation as a whole.
