MLK Day
and lessons from his legacy
Join us January 20th at 8pm for our Monthly Statewide
call.
Monday will be a day of reflection for
a lot of us. It's a day to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr, it's also
a day when we'll see a peaceful transition of power between two
presidents with a long shared history of conflict. MLK lived in a time
of stark divisions when American's couldn't seem to find a way to come
together. We can see elements of that around us today. Hopefully we
can remember Dr. King's example and find ways to work with people we
disagree with to bring people together over shared values.
This is different than abandoning your
values just because it's easier to let the loudest voices in the room
have their say. MLK spoke truth to power to gain support, but he also
did the hard work behind the scenes to build a coalition.
If you're unsatisfied with who is being
inaugurated on Monday or the choices we were given, it's a great time
to get working to improve a system that would lead to these
results.
"Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes
through continuous struggle" -MLK Jr
