Reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Bush Museum this weekend

The George W. Bush Presidential Museum's Freedom Matters special exhibit highlights how freedom advocates including Dr. King have changed the lives of millions. On display are two original copies of books Dr. King wrote on his efforts to end segregation, support economic justice, and create equal education opportunities for Black Americans. The exhibit also showcases a handwritten note from President Abraham Lincoln in which he hones his arguments against slavery.

The Bush Museum will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Milauna Jackson who plays Captain Campbell in the Netflix film The Six Triple Eight, will join critically acclaimed producer of the Netflix film The Six Triple Eight, bestselling author, and former U.S. Ambassador Nicole Avant on stage at the Bush Center to discuss the only women’s Army Corps unit of color during WWII. Retired Army Col. Edna Cummings, producer of a 2019 documentary about the 6888 and advocate for the battalion to be recognized with the Congressional Gold Medal, will also share details of their achievements.

The Seventh Annual Laura Bush Book Club will proudly feature Amor Towles. One of Mrs. Bush’s favorite authors. Towles’ novels, Rules of Civility, A Gentleman in Moscow, and The Lincoln Highway, and his collection of shorter fiction, Table for Two, have all been New York Times bestsellers.
