Memorial Day is a time to honor the men and women who have given their lives to protect our country. Today’s celebration might not look like how we've honored our heroes in the past, but no matter our circumstances, our community will celebrate the people who have served with those closest to us.

Today, I’m remembering all of our fallen heroes in the United States Armed Forces from both New Jersey and across the country who have served our nation and vowed to protect us all.

Also, I’m thinking of new ways to honor the heroes among us. I find my work with the VA fulfilling because I’m giving back to those who have given up everything for me. My promise to them, and to you, is to work my hardest to provide protection and resources for our most brave.

In light of the coronavirus, I want to take a moment today to recognize our frontline and essential workers. They — like our service members — are keeping us safe everyday, and risking their health while doing it.

So, take a moment with me today to say thank you and remember every American who have, are, and will protect us. Our safety is because of their sacrifices.

I hope you have a safe and happy Memorial Day.
