Donald Trump and his allies are pledging to carry out the most anti-immigrant agenda we’ve ever seen.

They’ve called for mass detention and deportation of undocumented immigrants and their families, using local law enforcement to harass immigrant communities, and blocking new immigrants from lawfully coming to the United States, among other policies.

These dangerous, costly policies won’t fix our broken immigration system. They’ll only create more chaos and cruelty.

As the grandson of an immigrant and as a member of Congress representing San Antonio—one of the most vibrant, diverse cities in America—I refuse to stand by while they attack immigrants for political gain.

Immigrants are the backbone of our nation. They contribute immeasurably to our economy, our culture, and our communities. When Trump and his allies attack immigrant families who have lived and worked here for years, they attack the very fabric of what America is, and its history.

I’ve fought to defend the rights and humanity of immigrants and all Americans my entire career, and I won’t stop now. But I need your help to fight back.
