Dear John,
The House voted on Tuesday, January 14th to pass the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 with a vote of 218 to 206. Two Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the bill. Unfortunately, most Democrats refused to vote in alignment with the majority of Americans who oppose males playing in sports meant for females.
Click here to see how Delegate Norton voted, and thank them if they voted to protect women’s and girls’ sports! While you’re at it, send a message to your senators asking them to co-sponsor this bill in the Senate.
Little girls in America who dream of becoming athletes should have their hopes and dreams encouraged, not placed out of reach. Unfortunately, today we are seeing an all-out attack on fairness and opportunity for female athletes at both the high school and collegiate levels. One example at the high school level is in track and field. At the 2019 Connecticut Indoor Track & Field State Championships, Selina Soule was robbed of the opportunity to compete for a qualifying spot at the New England Regional Championships in the 55-meter dash because two males took the top two spots. This meant that Selina was unable to be seen by college scouts. Similarly, Chelsea Mitchell was robbed of a state championship title four times because these male athletes were allowed to compete in the women’s track events.
Examples like these of female athletes missing out on opportunities are piling up, making the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act more needed than ever.
Send a message to Delegate Norton now based on how they voted, and urge your senators to co-sponsor the Senate companion of this bill!
Thank you for you engagement on this issue!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at FRC Action
