Dear Friends,
Today, we honor and thank all those who have given their lives for our country. We also extend our thanks to the families who have lost loved ones or have loved ones currently serving in the U.S. military. Those New Orleans families are in my heart today.
Visiting family many seem small to you today, but the virus is a big deal to their immune system. As we also remember those we've lost to COVID-19, let's not harm any of our family, friends, or neighbors unknowingly.
As you enjoy today's holiday, please remember to celebrate with your #PhaseOne krewe only, and please don't encourage a large gathering of family, friends, or neighbors. Social distancing matters! Remember to bring your mask with you everywhere, stay six feet away from others, and wash your hands frequently.

At a time when it feels like the entire planet is waging a war against the invisible enemy that is COVID-19, it's important to remember our New Orleans residents who literally gave their lives in the defense of their country. We are all reminded on this day of the ultimate sacrifice given to ensure that our nation remains free. Please know our hearts are with you.
Thank you, New Orleans — and stay safe.
