Memorial Day is often a time to take off work and celebrate the start of summer with friends and family. And even in an era of social distancing, our communities are finding new and innovative ways to connect on special days like today.

But it's also a day to remember the countless Americans who sacrificed their lives so the rest of us may live free and prosper. Today is a day to remember our fallen soldiers, and express gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of this great nation.

We cannot forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate price so that we may enjoy these freedoms. So that's why I invite you to join me in taking a moment today to recognize and express gratitude to those we've lost at home and abroad in the defense of our nation and the freedoms we continue to fight for.
