Our mission to build enduring progressive power in the states has never been more important

Our mission to build enduring progressive power in the states has never been more important, John.

In just a few days, Donald Trump will return to the White House, and he has pledged to transfer even more power to the states.

With his MAGA allies at the state level more emboldened than ever, we need to continue building a powerful line of defense in our state legislatures.

As we gear up for this democracy-saving fight, we want to hear from you. Sister District supporters like you are the heart of our movement, and we want your input as we set our strategy for 2025 and 2026.

John, will you participate in our 2025 Volunteer Survey? Your insight is important to us, and we can’t wait to read your response.

As you know, the fight to shift the balance of power in state legislatures doesn’t happen overnight — or even in one cycle. But over time, we can make a powerful difference.

In 2016, Democrats held majorities in just 29 state legislative chambers. Now, they control nearly 40. That means we’re in a stronger position to combat MAGA extremism than nine years ago where it matters the most: the states.

But there is so much more work to be done, John.

This year, we’ll head back to Virginia — where we can keep the legislature blue and pick up a Governor’s seat. We’re also gearing up to invest heavily in year-round grassroots organizing in critical battleground states and identify key opportunities to build power in 2026.

But first, we need your input to guide our strategy for volunteer recruitment and digital communications.

Thank you for all you do!
