John, We often spend Memorial Day with our loved ones, honoring those who have given everything to keep us safe. This year, the way in which we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice may look a little different, but we will remember them all the same. At this difficult moment in our history, it is more important than ever that we remain thankful for those who made our future brighter and exemplified what is best about America. Our country’s service members put themselves in harm’s way to protect our homes and our loved ones. And now, many are stepping up in new, challenging ways during this pandemic. Our heroes have fought selflessly for people they do not know. Memorial Day honors those who gave their lives to protect us and our country -- and we owe them all a great debt of gratitude. Today, I’m also thinking of those who are emulating that spirit of service -- especially our military doctors and nurses, and all those putting themselves and their safety on the line to keep us safe during this new crisis. They’re living up to the example of those who have served. Whether you have served, have lost someone, or know someone who has -- I hope you’ll join me and take a moment today to salute those who have given their lives for our country.
