Marj

Hello from the State Capitol,

This week, I began my second term in office after being sworn in as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

It remains such an honor to serve the people of southwestern Minnesota, and I am excited to work on their behalf once again.

I was also pleased to receive my committee assignments for the next two years. In addition to serving as the vice-chair of the House Capital Investment Committee, I will also serve on the Education Policy and Transportation Finance and Policy committees.

*PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY*

On January 9th I had the privilege to be Principal for a Day at the Windom and St. James schools.

StJames

In St. James, I sat down with Superintendent Heil, Principal Dawson and Principal Fugazzi - they showed me around the elementary school and the work the younger students are doing with robotics. I also walked around the high school and was shown some of the improvements they have made to the school. They also shared with me some concerns they have for the upcoming school year.

In Windom, I met with Principals Bryan Joyce - High School Principal, Cory Barfknect - Elementary Principal, and Dane Nielsen - Middle School Principal. It was a great opportunity to tour the school, meet some of the staff and discuss any issues they may have for the upcoming school year. Windom was chosen to be involved in a Legislative Attendance Pilot Program, and they shared information on the project and have seen a positive impact to the school. I also was able to hear the band!

I really appreciated the warm welcome I was shown at both schools.  It's always a pleasure to be in the district one on one with constituents!
