VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump delivers shocking threat to Los Angeles
The MAGA cult leader admitted — out loud in a televised phone interview — that, by withholding disaster relief for Californians reeling from historic wildfires and linking it to whatever nightmare omnibus package Republicans are currently concocting, he'll be able to get his hideous political agenda passed because "they won't the money to go out there so badly." This is so far beyond normal and downright evil, people.

Infamous Trump-appointed judge in Texas rules 3 other states can challenge access to abortion pill mifepristone nationwide
Hey, remember when Donald Trump installed three super-conservative ideologues to the Supreme Court during his first term so Republicans could overturn 50 years of precedent and strip reproductive freedoms from half the country, then claimed that he only did so because "everyone" wanted to let each state individually decide how to handle the issue? Yeah, no. They're gunning for a wholesale, nationwide ban. You can take that to the bank.

Idaho GOP launches shocking attack on marriage equality
Human Rights Campaign: Republicans in the Idaho legislature have filed a new resolution calling on the Supreme Court to repeal the right to same-sex marriage across the country. Though largely symbolic, this brazen attack is just the latest threat to LGBTQ+ rights, and demonstrates the persistent danger our community faces. That’s why the Human Rights Campaign is gearing up to fight for equality at the federal level, in state legislatures and in courts across the nation — because we need to stay vigilant and we need ordinary people to stand up and take action. President Biden commutes sentences of nearly 2,500 non-violent drug offenders
Biden, who leaves office on Monday, announced today he was commuting the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses, saying he had now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any of his predecessors. Now THAT's more like it, Joe. Three more days — please keep it coming. We all know justice is a moving target.

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett received creepy phone call from Republican staffer after Nancy Mace threatened violence
Rep. Jasmine Crockett said that she received an alarming phone call from a House Republican staffer shortly after a combative encounter with Republican rep and tireless attention seeker Nancy Mace, who earlier this week told her House colleague the two should take their disagreement outside in one of the more sophomoric exchanges in Congress in recent memory. "That was a pretty heated exchange between y'all and Mace. My money’s on Mace," the staffer said during the call, according to Crockett’s office. "When this type of behavior is not checked at the top, then it allows other little people to believe that they can just do whatever to a hosted member of Congress," Crockett noted. And lord knows there are a LOT of little people floating around Congress.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has journalist forcibly removed for asking questions about Gaza
In his final press conference, the architect of the United States' policy of unconditional support for Israel's devastating war in Gaza had Sam Husseini, an accredited journalist, forcibly removed from the room. Husseini tried to ask questions about US policy regarding Israel early during the press conference, only to be told to wait until the end. When he persisted, he was physically dragged away by three security guards. Husseini posted on Twitter after the incident, saying he was fine but had planned to ask several different questions, including about the Geneva Convention’s application to Gaza and Israel’s Hannibal directive, among other topics. It's a black day when even a Democratic administration is refusing to engage with the free press on its most consequential policy decisions or face accountability for the thousands killed as a result.

Greenland prime minister tells Fox News, "We don't want to be Americans"
Pressed by Fox News' Bret Baier to comment on the MAGA cult leader's incessant obsession with "buying Greenland," Prime Minister Mute Egede said, "Greenland and the future of Greenland will be decided by the Greenlandic people, and the Greenlandic people don't want to be Danes, the Greenlandic people don't want to be Americans. Greenlandic people want to be part of the Western alliance as Greenlandic people." Did you get all that, Donald?

Rudy Giuliani settles with defamed election workers after blowing off property seizure trial
Giuliani, perhaps the loudest and most obnoxious of Trump's incessant election deniers, appeared to finally settle a yearslong defamation case against Georgia election workers that threw him into financial freefall, facing a $150 million verdict that could've cost him all his properties and possessions. While the terms of the settlement were not disclosed, the plaintiffs in the case — Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss — seem satisfied. "The past four years have been a living nightmare. We have fought to clear our names, restore our reputations, and prove that we did nothing wrong. Today is a major milestone in our journey. We have reached an agreement and we can now move forward with our lives," the now-former election workers said. "We have agreed to allow Mr. Giuliani to retain his property in exchange for compensation and his promise not to ever defame us." We'll see how long that last part sticks.
Many Americans doubt Trump will be able to lower prices in his first year, an AP-NORC poll shows
No kidding. Despite Donald's campaign promises and proclamations to the contrary, presidents can't wave a wand and, ya know, magically bring down the price of eggs. It's almost as if the world's byzantine, interconnected economy, forever in search of greater and greater quarterly gains, is subject to many forces — legitimate and certainly otherwise — beyond the influence of a single head of state. Almost.
Moon added to list of threatened cultural sites for first time
The ongoing threat human beings pose to our most prized and irreplaceable cultural sites now extends into space, apparently. The potential for looting from future commercial trip visitors poses serious risks to artifacts left by lunar landings, so much so that the World Monuments Fund actually added the frickin' MOON to its list of threatened cultural sites, in one of the more damning indictments of our species' general proclivity for, well, f*cking sh*t up.
