Dear Colleague:

Thanks to all who have registered for our upcoming webinar - Understanding Disability Benefits: Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for Adults, Seniors and Children. If you have not registered yet, there is still time to save your spot! [see link below]

Disability is something most people don’t like to think about. But the chances that you’ll develop a disability are probably greater than you realize. Studies show that a 20-year-old worker has a one-in-four chance of developing a disability before reaching full retirement age.

Designing Your 2025 Ground Plan for Inclusion

Fully disability-inclusive organizations garner many benefits, for both employer and employee. But what does it mean to be fully inclusive? These businesses not only hire disabled workers, but also understand disability-related laws, implement effective accommodation practices, prioritize accessibility and provide quality jobs for all employees.

Now, a new resource developed by the ODEP-funded Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) and Job Accommodation Network (JAN), provides step-by-step guidance for delivering on your business’s commitment to disability inclusion by focusing on two key interrelated elements: accommodations and accessibility.

EARN’s Workplace Accommodation and Accessibility Policy Toolkit [ [link removed] ] covers topics from legal basics to how to coordinate accommodations and accessibility policies and programs. This online resource offers policy assessment information, actionable steps, sample policy language and resources to help support disability inclusion across your organization. The toolkit also addresses the many direct and indirect benefits of recruiting, hiring, retaining and advancing disabled employees, among them higher revenue and increased overall company morale.

When it comes to cultivating and supporting human capital, inclusion is a winning concept. Businesses of all sizes and industries can use the Workplace Accommodation and Accessibility Policy Toolkit [ [link removed] ] to design a ground plan for success in 2025 and beyond.
