CT DEMOCRATS VOTE AGAINST PROTECTION OF WOMEN AND GIRLS IN SPORTS

MIDDLETOWN — On Wednesday, Congressmen, John Larson, Joe Courtney, Jim
Himes, Congresswomen Rosa DeLauro and Jahana Hayes, voted against
legislation that would protect girls and women athletics. They voted
against legislation that would strengthen opportunities for our
daughters and granddaughters to compete in interscholastic sports
against only biological girls and women, asserted Republican State Party
Chairman Ben Proto.

“Connecticut Congressional Democrats demonstrated how completely out of
touch they are with the insane idea that biological boys and men should
be allowed to compete in women’s sports,”

said Proto. “Their actions are abhorrent to female empowerment, common
sense and fairness.”

The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025, which would
“provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of
such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a
person's reproductive biology and genetics at birth," passed by a vote
of 218 - 206 with all but two Democrats voting no.

“The entire Republican caucus voted to send a clear message of equality
and fairness to the American people and the bill to the U.S. Senate. It
is time for Connecticut’s Congressional representatives to, not only
understand where the people of Connecticut are on this issue, but to
vote in manner that reflects the values of Connecticut” said Proto.

“This legislation would make it clear sports should be separate for men
and women based on their biological gender - nothing complicated about
it,” said Proto. “Democrats apparently don’t

believe in facts or science but more importantly don’t believe in
protecting women from loss of opportunities or physical injury. Instead,
they believe in woke politics” continued Proto.

“I call on Senators Murphy and Blumenthal to stand up for Connecticut
girls and women and support the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports
Act of 2025 and send it to President Trump

to be signed into law” concluded Proto.
