Since we were first founded, we’ve gone on to elect over 1,488 RFS-endorsed candidates to school boards, city councils, state legislatures, and more nationwide — and just last year we scored an impressive 50% win rate in November!
This election, 53% of our candidates identified as women — potentially our highest number yet. Another 52% identified as people of color, and 30% are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. We even had candidates like Huldah Hiltsley, Minnesota State House, District 38A, become the first Kenyan immigrant to win a state assembly seat anywhere in the United States. Quantá Crews, Arizona State House, Legislative District 26, also became the first Black woman to represent the district.
What happened on Nov. 5 may have been discouraging — but over 12,000 of you decided it was time to take a stand, giving us a record number of new sign-ups!
From expanding voting access to defeating book bans and attacks on abortion, our candidates are making real progress for the betterment of our nation.
Our candidates don’t just make an impact at the state and local level. Many of them go on to run and win big seats in Congress and other high-level offices — meaning we’re building the progressive pipeline we need to fight back against extremism!
There are no off years for us. In November, 222 of our endorsed candidates won elections across 30 states. And, in 2023, we even supported the candidates who helped win Democratic control of Virginia’s legislature and blocked Glenn Youngkin’s harmful abortion ban!
In the face of far-right extremism and attacks on progress, our RFS candidates fight back at every level of government to ensure our rights and the foundations of our democracy are protected. And with another Trump administration on the horizon, we’re not about to slow down now.
None of the critical work we do would be possible without dedicated progressives like you, John. Your support is what’s helping us fight for a more equitable future.
Thank you for making a difference.
