Defending National Parks in 2025

Dear Supporter, Happy New Year from all of us at Campaign for National Parks. 2025 is going to be a big a year of action for us. Already, we have received permission from the High Court to intervene in a critical test case and have launched our legal fighting fund. We have been championing National Parks at the Oxford farming conferences, and hearing from Exmoor Society the challenges farmers are facing. Later this month, we will be hosting the Landscapes Minister at our Council and will be encouraging rapid implementation of commitments announced last year, as our policy manager Ruth sets out in her blog below.

Your support has enabled us to stand up for National Parks, we hope you will join us in the year ahead and take action for their future.

DEFENDING NATIONAL PARKS IN COURT

We’re taking the battle for wilder National Parks to the courts by defending the change in law we fought to secure. This new law is groundbreaking but it’s being ignored. One year in we’re already seeing many examples of where the changes are not being delivered.

We're taking a stand and have been granted permission by the High Court to intervene in a case which will set an important precedent for the implementation of the new law.

Court cases are costly, please help us by donating to our fighting fund today.

NATIONAL PARKS' 75TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT

2024 was a momentous year for Campaign for National Parks as we celebrated the 75th anniversary of the legislation that our founders worked so hard to secure. The year ended with a significant win as the Government announced plans to introduce new legislation which will update the key objectives for National Parks and Landscapes.

In 2025 we must make the most of Government's plans and ensure these changes are implemented as quickly as possible.
