Dear John,

Today, the Israeli government officially confirmed an agreement that will begin the process of returning hostages to their loved ones.

For the past 469 days, our Jewish community alongside Canadians from all backgrounds have been seized with the shared objective of returning the innocent babies, children, grandparents, men, and women who were taken by Hamas and other terrorists.

We remain horrified by the brutality of the October 7 massacre and the inhumane treatment of the hostages. Today at this pivotal moment, as they have been every day for the past 15 months, our thoughts are with the hostages and their families.

We also recognize the painful concessions that Israel has been willing to make through this agreement, including the release of Palestinian terrorists convicted of murder. Now and always, we stand with the people of Israel as they navigate a crisis that no country should have to go through.

Here in Canada, it has been powerful to see the outpouring of solidarity and activism in support of the hostages. Our team at CIJA will not rest until every hostage is returned home and the people of Israel finally realize the peace and security they deserve.

Le CIJA se félicite de la confirmation officielle de l'accord de libération des otages

Aujourd'hui, le gouvernement israélien a officiellement confirmé un accord qui permettra d'entamer le processus de libération des otages à leurs proches.

Depuis 469 jours, notre communauté juive et des Canadiens de toutes origines ont espéré ce moment de retour à la liberté de bébés, d’enfants, de parents et de grands-parents et de tous les hommes et les femmes enlevés par le Hamas et d'autres terroristes.

Nous sommes toujours horrifiés par la brutalité du massacre du 7 octobre et par le traitement inhumain des otages. Aujourd'hui, en ce moment crucial, comme chaque jour depuis 15 mois, nos pensées vont aux otages et à leurs familles.

Nous reconnaissons aussi les concessions douloureuses d’Israël dans le cadre de cet accord, notamment la libération de terroristes palestiniens condamnés pour meurtre. Aujourd'hui comme hier, nous sommes aux côtés du peuple israélien qui traverse une crise qu'aucun pays ne devrait avoir à subir.

Ici, au Canada, l'élan de solidarité et de militantisme en faveur des otages a été très fort. L'équipe du CIJA ne prendra de répit tant que tous les otages ne seront pas rentrés chez eux et que le peuple d'Israël connaisse enfin la paix et la sécurité qu'il mérite.
