Hello,
Pennsylvania has a proud tradition of serving our country in the armed forces. In fact, our Commonwealth has one of the largest populations of veterans in the Nation.
Memorial Day is especially meaningful for Pennsylvanians because our history of service has led so many of our loved ones to make the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Nation. We've lost brothers, sisters, wives, husbands, sons, and daughters in a chain stretching back to the earliest days of our country all the way through today.
Today, on Memorial Day, we give thanks to those who have given their lives in defense of our Nation. We must also remember to give our thanks to those who have lost their loved ones, and recommit to ensuring survivors have the support they need. We should repay our debt of gratitude by keeping the promises we made to those we remember today, and the families they have left behind.
Wherever you are today, I hope you will take the time to remember the brave souls who gave in service to our Nation what Abraham Lincoln described as "the last full measure of devotion."
Thank you,
Bob Casey
