John,

While I miss the typical way we would all spend Memorial Day outside at picnics with friends and family, I hope today leaves some extra space to memorialize those who have died in service of our country.

Please take a moment to pause at 3 p.m. as a part of the National Moment of Remembrance to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many in our armed forces.

We are in a time when so many are in a sustained state of mourning for all of the loss during this pandemic, and it is something to which I hope we never become desensitized. My father served in the United States Marine Corps and instilled the importance of honoring our troops as well as doing one’s patriotic duty in service of this country.

I hope to serve this country in Congress by fighting for veterans and all New Yorkers to have access to the healthcare, housing, and jobs that they need to thrive.

All my best,
Lindsey
