Friend, Our movement to advance freedom, justice, and democracy will face its toughest challenge yet over the next four years. The convergence of the Trump Inauguration and Martin Luther King Day on January 20th provides a raw reminder of how much work we must do to defend the progress we’ve made and keep marching forward through these difficult times. The progressive movement has always been fueled by a diverse coalition linked by common values – including people of faith. People For has spent four decades working alongside progressive faith leaders and all people of moral conscience to fight white Christian nationalism. This will be a time to reflect on what we can do as a movement and to raise our voices in resistance. Dr. King’s moral movement, while rooted in the Black church, included those of many faiths or none at all, people collectively committed to freedom and justice for everyone. It asked us all to resist injustice everywhere, persist through struggle, and create a beloved community where all of us matter. On the first day of a new administration, we’ll stand with faith leaders, partners, elected leaders, and our members in defense of that legacy, and commit to carrying forward Dr. King’s dream together. The People For team will share a collective call to action for the first 100 days, giving everyone a chance to join in the resistance. Register to join us on January 20 at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT! >> Thank you for your advocacy and I hope to see you there! Best, Svante Myrick
