Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. Today we honor the heroic Americans who gave their lives in service to our country, and remind ourselves that we drink deeply from wells of freedom that we did not dig.

I'm filling the absence of our usual Memorial Day traditions, typically spent in the company of others, with quiet contemplation and a renewed appreciation for those who laid down their lives serving our country.

As a member of the U.S. Senate, I recognize the immense responsibility I have to servicemembers and their families -- past and present -- and recommit myself to honoring their service and memories with action.

We must show our gratitude with more than just words. That means enacting policies that are in the best interests of our servicemembers and their families, taking care of our veterans when they come home, and working to bring a peaceful resolution to the endless wars abroad.

On this and every Memorial Day, I'm eternally grateful for those who gave that last full measure of devotion to protect our nation.

I hope you have a meaningful holiday.

Cory
