John, the top of the priority-list for the brand-new Congress is to give enormous tax cuts to billionaires, and families and care workers are the ones who’ll pay for it.
A recently leaked document reveals that House lawmakers are considering slashing TRILLIONS of dollars from Medicaid, billions from Medicare, and billions from the Affordable Care Act1!
The consequences of these cuts would touch every corner of our society, and while working families lose access to healthcare and care workers lose their livelihoods, billionaires and corporations will get even richer.
Think about the home care worker who helps your grandmother get dressed in the morning. The childcare worker who keeps your kids safe and happy. The personal care assistant who helps your neighbor with disabilities live independently.
For many of these essential workers, Medicaid isn't just a healthcare program - it's the program that pays their wages, and it’s the coverage that keeps their own kids healthy. Cuts like these would devastate the workers who care for our families.
Even discussing this as tax cuts is a trick. The top 0.1% would get average tax breaks of around $314,000, while working families would receive less than $500 in cuts - a distraction from the extreme cuts also taking place.
Elected officials have to decide: allow billionaires to get huge tax breaks, or protect the health and care infrastructure that millions of families and workers need.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for care.

Thank you for being a dedicated supporter of the National Domestic Workers Alliance!
We're working day and night to win respect, recognition, and labor rights and protections for the more than 2.5 million nannies, house cleaners, and homecare workers.
The majority of domestic workers sit at the center of some of our nation’s most decisive issues because of who they are and what they do: they are women – mostly women of color, immigrants, mothers, and low-wage workers. They are impacted by almost every policy affecting the future of our economy, democracy and country.
Domestic workers can lead us toward a new, inclusive vision for the future for all of us -- and your grassroots support is the fuel that can get us there.
