John, now that we’re in the election year, things are starting to really heat up here in Virginia as National Republicans understand the stakes of our race! In fact, former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy just sent $50,000 to Abigail’s opponent.

Why? Because he – and National Republican groups – know just how crucial Virginia’s off-year elections always are. In 2021, our Republican Governor won by a razor-thin margin, but it was a national rallying cry for Republicans hoping to win back the House of Representatives in 2022, which they did.

But they also remember that in 2017, Democrats won Virginia’s three state-wide races and made gains in our House of Delegates, and that electoral success helped set the stage for the 2018 blue wave when Democrats flipped 41 seats and took the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Virginia is a bellwether, and that’s why national Republicans – like Kevin McCarthy – will continue to send campaign dollars to Abigail’s opponent.
