Friends,
Sacrifice and courage.
Every Memorial Day I think about both of those traits and right now, they seem more important than ever.
This year, we’ve seen our fair share of sacrifice and courage on the homefront as healthcare workers, first responders and all Hoosiers have fought back against the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s incredible to see the bravery and courage of Hoosiers who have stepped up to keep their neighbors safe and healthy.
It’s also a reminder of the trials and tribulations that our men and women in uniform face every day. The courage and sacrifice we’ve seen from civilians during this crisis are just part of the daily routine when you’re in the Armed Forces.
Even though we can’t gather together to honor those who have fallen in the line of duty this Memorial Day, it’s more important than ever that we show our respect for those who gave, as Lincoln said, “the last full measure of devotion.”
I invite you to join me in taking a moment to reflect on all the heroes who have lost their lives in service to our country.
Sincerely, Governor Eric Holcomb
