John,
With Trump's inauguration days away and the House of Representatives just this week fast-tracking a bill banning trans kids from playing sports, we know that attacks on transgender rights are coming at the federal level.
It's going to take every one of us speaking out, showing up, and pulling every legal and legislative lever we have to fight anti-LGBTQ+ attacks in the coming years. But true resistance is also going to take queer moxie and bold acts of resistance, imagination, and joy. Drag. Theater. Camp. Art. All of it.
One thing we know for sure is that the real stories of real people are powerful, and they need to be heard. And what do you know – our team just published a book full of stories about how trans kids and their families are navigating this time.
Now, let's get this book into the hands of every U.S. Senator…by gifting them membership in the Trans Kids, Our Kids Book Club. Can you help us make it happen? $20 will sponsor one book, and $100 will sponsor five books – plus, you can include a personal message for a Senator with your donation. Please chip in today to help us get these stories into the hands of 100 people whose votes matter a lot. ([link removed])

Imagine Senator Ted Cruz tearing open a package and seeing the bold, beautiful cover of Trans Kids, Our Kids. What happens next? Maybe he tosses it in the air and it shatters a framed picture of him from a donor event at a Montana ranch where he's dressed in brand new denim and leather. Maybe he thumbs through the book disdainfully and then pushes it across his desk, telling an intern to get rid of it, which leads to her reading it as she rides the Metro home that night because she has some questions and isn't sure who to ask. Maybe he pauses for just a brief moment and thinks about the young person he's known since birth who just came out.
Senator Tammy Baldwin (we see you, Senator!) will also get a copy of this book. We know she will be one of the most powerful voices on the Senate floor standing up for her community. And maybe these stories will give her one more source of fuel to draw on as she speaks out against dangerous and vile federal legislation targeting a small group of young people.
Chip in $20, $40, or $100 to help us get the powerful stories featured in Trans Kids, Our Kids in front of the most powerful legislative body in the country. If we can hit our fundraising goal quickly, we may even be able to get the books to Senators before they vote on the discriminatory trans youth sports ban that's headed their way. ([link removed])
To those who will read these powerful stories and still target the rights of trans youth, we want them to know – their constituents, and a majority of Americans, stand with trans youth, and we're not going anywhere. In fact, we're doubling down on our vow to fight for the equality of LGBTQ+ people in every part of life.
Thank you for being a part of our team as we all gear up for what comes next – we're in it together, every single step of the way.
With gratitude,
Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara
