But even if this ceasefire is for real and Netanyahu sticks to his word, the devastation in Gaza cannot be undone. In the past 15 months, the Israeli military has killed at least 45,000 people and even more bodies are likely to be discovered under the rubble.
While focusing on the mass death and destruction in Gaza, many have also lost sight of the continued apartheid system imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank. We might finally have a ceasefire, but we’re far away from justice and equality.
What’s worse is that 55 members of the House Progressive Caucus voted to send weapons to Israel during the genocide and dozens of others didn’t even call for a ceasefire until there were already thousands of children dead in Gaza.
Our mission is to hold accountable the members of Congress who enabled Israel and, if necessary, vote them out of Congress and give them black eyes that stain the rest of their careers. Can you donate $10 or whatever you can spare to help us name and shame the members of the House Progressive Caucus who did nothing as Netanyahu and his military massacred the people of Gaza?
