John,
My commitment to you and to every New Yorker is this: Your family
is my fight.
In my State of the State address this week, I didn’t just share a
list of proposals. I
shared a concrete blueprint for our future – one that will deliver
actual results that New Yorkers will feel in their everyday
lives.
That’s what New Yorkers expect, and it’s what they deserve. I want
to:
✅ Put money back in your pockets with a
sweeping middle-class income tax cut, the nation’s
first-ever Inflation Refund, and a child tax credit
boost that would give parents up to $1,000 per child
– triple the current maximum benefit. Click
here to learn more about how we’re making life more affordable for New
Yorkers.
✅ Give working parents a break
and set our kids up for success with more affordable and
reliable child care, universal school breakfast and lunch, mental
health support at school, and a new initiative, “Unplug and Play,”
which will help create more opportunities for kids to focus on just
being kids.
✅ Help New Yorkers get the education they
need for a new career with a proposal to make community
college completely free for students 25-55 looking to enter
high-demand fields.
✅ Keep New Yorkers safe on our
subways with more police officers on trains — including
making sure every overnight train has a uniformed officer on
it, stronger laws to make sure those with severe mental illness get
the help they need, and new technology upgrades to protect
riders.
✅ Make it easier for New Yorkers to achieve
their dream of owning a home with actions that build on last
year’s once-in-a-generation housing deal and to make it harder for
greedy private equity firms to snatch up homes and jack up prices.
Our policies will help create a New York where hardworking people
can get ahead, where children can play safely in their neighborhoods,
where opportunities are plentiful, and where champions are forged.
I
want you to have a chance to meet some of those hardworking New
Yorkers:
This is New York.
And when New Yorkers get knocked down, we help them get back
up.
We put money back in their pockets.
We build more affordable housing.
We make sure their streets are safe.
Your family is my fight, and I will never stop fighting for
you.
Ever Upward,
Gov. Kathy Hochul
