As we begin the new year, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support of our mission. Thanks to your generosity, support, and dedication, we have been able to make a meaningful impact toward creating an internet that works for all of us.
As fires rage across Los Angeles, our hearts go out to all of those affected, including the supporters and advocates in our community. In the face of this stunning tragedy, our vision for the new year is one of hope, unity, and resilience. We are more committed than ever to creating lasting change.
2024 was a year of great progress. Together, we have expanded our programs, reached more people, and developed a clear path forward. To our advisors, supporters, friends, partners and staff, you played a vital role in driving this work. Your commitment has allowed us to overcome challenges and seize new opportunities.
As we reflect on the past year, we are reminded that the work we do is only possible because of people like you who care deeply about creating lasting change. In a world that can sometimes feel divided, you are helping to build bridges of compassion, reason, and hope. The internet is having an immeasurable impact on the state of global democracy, human rights, social trust, citizen engagement, and environmental and human health. Without checks and balances, the trillion-dollar advertising industry — whether intended or not — continues to defund news media, prioritize clickbait, and entrench power to the owners of global technology companies. We don’t believe this will last. Our goal is to continue to work with you to build a better future for all of us.
Looking at the year ahead, we are excited about the possibilities that lie before us. Together, we will continue to pursue our vision of a more just and equitable world, knowing that every step forward is made possible by your support.
