John,
As President Biden’s term winds to an end, there are approximately 3,000
people incarcerated in federal prisons for cannabis-related offenses.
Biden — and Biden alone — has the power to release them all with the
stroke of a pen.
Recreational cannabis is legal in 24 states, three territories, + DC.
Another seven states have decriminalized its use, and 14 states have
legalized it for medical purposes.
When he ran in 2020, Biden promised to move the needle on cannabis
justice.
And in many regards, he did just that.
In 2023, Biden pardoned thousands convicted of cannabis possession. And
late last year, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced it would
begin the process of rescheduling cannabis into Schedule III of the
Controlled Substances Act.
This is progress, but not true justice.
With four days left in his term, we’re urgently calling on the President
to keep his promises. Nearly 84% of Americans support the release of those
who have been incarcerated for crimes that have since been legalized.
It's high time for cannabis justice. But time is running out.

on his promises and grant cannabis clemency before his term ends.
