Friends,

Less than 24 hours after it was announced, the long-awaited, urgently needed ceasefire/hostage deal has already slammed into the hard realities of domestic and international politics.

Netanyahu has delayed a Cabinet vote on the deal, accusing Hamas of reneging on key components (a spokesperson for the terror group says it remains “committed” to the deal).

Meanwhile – as the war continues to kill dozens of civilians and hostage families wait desperately for confirmation – Israeli media reports delays are partly driven by threats from Netanyahu’s right-wing coalition partners who oppose the deal and may bring down the government.

This is a painfully precarious moment. To better understand the intricacies of the deal, how we can ensure it succeeds, and what to expect under the incoming Trump Administration, we’re holding a rapid-response briefing – today – and I wanted to be sure you had the chance to join us.

As Jeremy said yesterday, there is still much work to do to ensure the horrors of October 7 and the ensuing war can never happen again.

“Extremists on both sides will seek to undermine this agreement. We cannot allow them to succeed. We cannot go back,” he wrote. “The deal must deliver: Each and every hostage must come home. The fighting must stop. Rockets must cease. Forces must pull back. Aid must flood in.”

As we chart a course forward, I’m so grateful Celine and Ilan – both J Street policy fellows – will be joining us to share their expertise. Register now to join us shortly >>

I hope to see you there,
