The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Solid and Hazardous Waste Division, (WDEQ/SHWD) is initiating an informal public comment opportunity related to a new proposed Solid Waste Rule (SWR) specific to livestock disposal regulations.
The proposed SWR Chapter 19: Livestock Disposal Regulations includes requirements for the disposal of livestock mortality wastes generated from meat processing operations. The proposed rule includes standards for the location, design and construction, operation, recordkeeping, and closure of livestock wastes disposed of at eligible meat processing facilities.
Written and electronic comments on the proposed rule that WDEQ/SHWD is considering may be submitted beginning January 16, 2025 and ending at 5:00 p.m. (MST) on March 3, 2025.
