John --
I recently joined Senator Kamala Harris in writing a letter to the Department of Justice demanding that they take action on a recent shooting which has deeply troubled me.
Early on the morning of March 13th, a SWAT team entered the apartment of Breonna Taylor without warning, a 26-year-old EMT who worked at multiple hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky. 20 shots were allegedly fired in her apartment, and Ms. Taylor was shot at least eight times. Ms. Taylor was not the primary suspect in the investigation, nor were there any drugs recovered from her home.
Senator Harris and I have demanded accountability here and called for a federal investigation into the shooting:

Rest in Power, Breonna. We will not forget you. The fight for gun safety will bear your name now too -- just like we bear so many others'.
In solidarity,
