You may remember, Social Security Works Executive Director Alex Lawson confronted Greene in the halls of Congress, showing her mailpieces from the Trump campaign with clear promises to protect Social Security and Medicare. Greene threw the ads in the air and called it “bullshit.”¹

We didn’t actually expect Trump to keep his campaign promises―after all, Trump promised not to cut Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid when he ran in 2016, and then went ahead and put cuts to all 3 in every single budget he released as president.

But the speed by which Musk’s ‘DOGE’ committee has abandoned those promises surprised even us. Trump hasn’t even been sworn in, and co-chairs are already outlining plans to unilaterally withhold Social Security payments from seniors and people with disabilities who they deem undeserving.²
