[link removed] [[link removed]] FIRSTNAME,

We’re taking on dark money, filing new FEC and IRS complaints against a group dodging disclosure and keeping Americans in the dark about who's funding elections.

We'll keep fighting against dark money, no matter what else is going on. We’ll tell you more about our work below, but if you know you’re already with us on this, then please, support our efforts with a donation today → [[link removed]]Donate monthly → [[link removed]]

The public has a right to know who's behind efforts to influence elections. That's why CREW is calling on the FEC and IRS to investigate whether Americans 4 Security Inc. broke campaign finance law and must register as a political organization.

In 2020, Americans 4 Security Inc.’s first year of existence, contributions to two super PACs accounted for as much as 90% of its total spending. Since then, Americans 4 Security Inc. has continued to primarily dedicate its resources to political activity.

Last year, it contributed more than $3 million to federal super PACs, the majority of which supported now-House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) in his primary campaign.

Our FEC complaint alleges that Americans 4 Security Inc.’s spending qualifies it as a political committee under federal law. Such organizations must register with the FEC and make public disclosures of their finances, including disclosing the sources of their funding.

Also, as a section 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, Americans 4 Security Inc. isn’t allowed to primarily influence political campaigns, and is required by the IRS to file annual tax returns disclosing its political expenditures.

And FIRSTNAME, Americans 4 Security Inc. isn’t the only shady actor trying to secretly spend on our elections.

We also filed an FEC complaint against a dark money group called Stop China Now for running an apparent conduit contribution scheme violating campaign finance law.

Stop China Now was the sole contributor to the super PAC Save Western Culture with a $1.6 million donation–a massive donation that came just two weeks after Stop China Now was formed last year.

The seven-figure donation allowed Save Western Culture to fund independent expenditures in 20 federal elections across 14 states–but the nature of the donation also allowed the true source or sources of the donation to remain secret.

The short time between the creation of Stop China Now and its large donation to Save Western Culture are more than just suspicious. Both Stop China Now and Save Western Culture share a mailing address at a UPS store in Massachusetts, not to mention Stop China Now also appears to have been incorporated by Save Western Culture’s treasurer.

It’s likely that the actual source of the funds used Stop China Now to make the contribution in the name of another, and Save Western Culture knowingly accepted a contribution in the name of another, in violation of federal campaign finance law.

FIRSTNAME, we need the FEC to investigate groups like Americans 4 Security Inc. and Stop China Now to reveal the true source of these massive donations.

Voters deserve to know who is behind the groups that are attempting to influence their elections.

We need your help to keep the pressure on the FEC and to stop dark money groups from illegally hiding their funders in the future.
