[DISASTER RESPONSE UPDATE]: Right now, at the request of LA County officials, we are providing urgent search and rescue for those impacted by the Eaton Fire, working diligently to locate and save animals in need and reunite them with their families or transfer them to Pasadena Humane for urgent care. Our disaster response team has been on the ground since last week providing animal search and rescue, subject matter expertise, operational assistance and critical support for impacted communities in Southern California amidst the unprecedented destruction of the recent wildfires.
In addition, our Los Angeles-based Community Medicine team is providing veterinary support to help local shelters prepare animals for adoption, foster and relocation by assisting with vaccinations, health certifications and spay/neuter. We are also arranging for the safe transport of homeless animals in Los Angeles to partner shelters out of the disaster zone; this is in addition to 30+ cats and kittens from the ASPCA Kitten Foster Program who were relocated away from the disaster zone as a precautionary measure last week. |
