The FY25 Support for Adam Walsh Act (AWA) Implementation Grant Program Funding Opportunity is now open for applications.
The AWA implementation grant program supports states, the District of Columbia, principal U.S. territories and federally recognized Indian Tribes with implementation and ongoing maintenance of requirements of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). Through the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, the SMART Office is authorized to provide annual funding, targeted training and technical assistance, and technology tools to jurisdictions working to implement SORNA.
Under the AWA implementation grant program, the SMART Office supports projects to help jurisdictions improve or maintain programs to register and track sex offenders and notify the public of their location. The SMART Office will award jurisdictions grants of up to $400,000, with a 36-month period of performance starting October 1, 2025. No match is required.
Award Eligibility: States, the District of Columbia, principal U.S. territories and federally recognized Indian Tribal governments that have elected to implement SORNA are eligible to apply.
Funding applications must be submitted to the Office of Justice Programs through a two-step process, with initial information submitted to Grants.gov and the full application completed in JustGrants.
