John,
It’s been over a week since the LA wildfires began, and families all across southern California are still reeling.
As of this Sunday, 62 square miles — an area larger than San Francisco — have been destroyed. Entire neighborhoods are no more. And the death toll is now up to 25.
Amidst this suffering and devastation, Trump and his Republican allies are spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories, and trying to use this crisis to score political points.1
Just this week, House Speaker Mike Johnson said that there “should probably be conditions” placed on federal aid to the communities that have been destroyed.2
This comes at the same time that Republicans are going all in to do the bidding of billionaires like Elon Musk — proposing $5 trillion in cuts to health care and other services all so they can slash the taxes of multi-billionaires.3 And California's Republican Congressional delegation? They've been quiet in the face of these threats from their own party.
It’s unconscionable that Republicans would try to use the destruction we are seeing in these communities to try and win notches on their belt in Congress. Add your name today and demand that Republicans in Congress stop politicizing the disaster, and start sending aid to families in need.

You’ve already done so much to help those affected by the wildfires, John. And for that, we thank you. WFP members alone have already contributed over $25,000 to various on-the-ground organizations and crisis centers.
And if you haven’t already, please split a donation with those groups here if possible.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
