As you read this, young people are taking action in Washington, D.C. at the confirmation hearing of Trump’s pick for Energy Secretary, fracking CEO Chris Wright. While millions of eyes have been on his hearing, we want to expose the corruption of Wright, Donald Trump, and the politicians bought and sold by the oil and gas industry.
Here’s what you need to know: Wright bought his appointment with a $500,000 donation to Trump's campaign, and his stated goal is to strangle renewable energy investments and funnel our tax dollars into fossil fuels.
But here’s the thing: Wright and his oil and gas billionaire buddies know that their reign will end if the public rises up against them. And we know we can’t accept fossil fuel billionaires in the Cabinet while we witness the climate crisis in realtime - from fires in California, to snow in Atlanta, and more.
So stand in solidarity with young people and be a part of the fight to stop Chris Wright’s nomination as Energy Secretary. Contact your Senators ASAP so they know: corrupt fracking CEO Chris Wright CANNOT be confirmed.
Wright has said that “any negative impacts from climate change were clearly overwhelmed by the benefits of increasing energy consumption.”
While Wright and other fossil fuel CEOs like to play dumb about climate change, they’ve been crystal clear on it for longer than anybody else on the planet. They’re not skeptical or naive, they’re just evil. Chris Wright and the billionaires like him believe that climate apocalypse is an acceptable price to pay for the fossil fuel consumption that makes him rich.
Fuck that - we won’t stand for a system that rewards billionaires and punishes working people. Help us keep Chris Wright, a fracking CEO and climate crisis “skeptic”, from buying his cabinet appointment as Energy Secretary.
Tell your Senators: corporate money has no place in politics, and Chris Wright has no place as Energy Secretary. Even if you have Democratic Senators, it’s still important for them to hear from you!
