Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament

In response to the Metropolitan Police's efforts to ban the Palestine Coalition from marching at the BBC this Saturday 18 January, there has been a groundswell of support for the democratic right to protest.?
?
A statement published over the weekend in support of the demonstration has gained signatures from MPs, peers, the trade union movement, as well as the arts, and civil society. It includes actors, Mark Rylance, Maxine Peake, Juliet Stevenson, and Riz Ahmed, musicians Paloma Faith, Yusuf Cat Stevens and Brian Eno, and musical groups Kneecap, and the Mary Wallopers. The full statement and list of signatories can be found here.

Help build pressure on the Met Police by writing to your MP, using our lobby tool here. We're urging MPs to support Early Day Motion 633. This calls on the Government to urge the Metropolitan Police to drop these repressive restrictions and allow the planned protest to take place at the BBC.

?

Preventing this protest would have repercussions beyond Saturday's protest. It attacks our fundamental freedoms as a society to organise, mobilise, and speak out against injustice. When sharing the model letter on social media, please include the hashtag #WeWillMarch so we can reach even more people.
?
Please note that the new assembly point is on Whitehall, Central London, where there will be a rally first. We will then march towards the BBC. We also ask protesters to bring flowers, toys, or children's shoes which will be laid down symbolically as part of the demonstration.

  • Saturday, 18 January
  • Assemble 12 noon, Whitehall, London
  • Latest details will be posted to our event page here
