[2025 Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk - June 21]([link removed])
We are so excited to announce that registration is now open for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s [2025 Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk]([link removed])! On June 21 in New York City, thousands of people from all over the country will come together to walk from dusk until dawn. The 2025 NYC event marks a special milestone for AFSP: our 30th Overnight Walk.
Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States that affects countless people, from those at risk, to the thousands of family members, neighbors, friends, students and colleagues who have lost someone close to them. The Overnight brings people together each year, sharing their stories, supporting each other, and sending the message that suicide must be brought out of the darkness.
In an article for AFSP's Real Stories blog, Michael Sheridan wrote about what the Overnight Walk means to him:
"So often, mental health conditions can be muted by stigma, shame and misinformation. I participate in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Overnight Walk to challenge this silence by sharing my story and by sharing my father's story: To bring hope, courage and support to everyone touched by suicide." (You can read Michael's full story [here]([link removed]).)
At the 2024 Overnight Walk, we were joined by 2,000 participants and raised a collective $3.4 million –– the most raised since the first Overnight event in 2002. This year, we hope to bring together even more people, and raise even more awareness and funds for suicide prevention. We want you to be a part of this special 30th event and The Overnight family. Join us.
