Dear John,

As Trump’s return to the White House approaches, our staff, members and allies have been preparing to fight back his upcoming attacks.

This week, the NYIC hosted our annual Member Congress, bringing together hundreds of members from across the state to strategize and launch our legislative agenda aimed at securing vital protections and rights for New York’s immigrant communities.

We marched to the Capitol, urging Albany lawmakers to join us in building a more inclusive and equitable state—one that serves all of us, whether we've been here for 30 days or 30 years.

Elected officials and allies joined us at the Million Dollar Staircase to make clear we will NOT rest until action is taken on key issues:

  • Guaranteeing the right to counsel for all immigrants in New York during deportation hearings through the Access to Representation Act, the first act of its kind in the nation, along with $165 million in the state budget for urgent legal and social services.
  • Passing the New York for All Act to bar law enforcement from collaborating with ICE and Border Patrol, an essential law that will protect thousands of families.
  • Expanding Language Access statewide to ensure immigrants can access vital resources and assistance in their language, with $10 million for expansion.
  • Providing critical support to working families through the Working Families Tax Credit, offering up to $1,600 annually to three million tax-paying New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status.

State lawmakers must act swiftly to pass these crucial bills that will protect millions of New Yorkers. We’re ready to make our voices heard in support for these bills this legislative session. Join us in our fight!

In power,
