On Monday, Donald Trump will officially be inaugurated for his second term as president. He and his administration have promised a series of attacks on immigrant families, and we expect more dangerous rhetoric and policy proposals in the coming weeks. The time to prepare for advocacy is now. We are ready to confront proposed threats to immigrant rights, wellbeing, and safety and look forward to working alongside you throughout the challenging times ahead to continue to protect immigrant families.

GOP lawmakers are preparing to use a process known as "budget reconciliation" to advance trillions of dollars in federal spending cuts. Various threats to immigrants have been and will continue to been floated, including eligibility restrictions, public charge, and more. While no details have yet been confirmed, we know that they are likely coming soon. We will continue to keep you informed as things change in order to support your advocacy work. The California Department of Social Services has prepared an updated Guide to Disaster Assistance Services to provide information about available federal, state, and local disaster assistance available to immigrants in California. Please share with your networks to support those in need of this information.

As Inauguration Day approaches, we can expect Trump to maintain rhetorical attacks on immigrant families. This new short video posted on our social media offers assurances that the election has not changed safety net eligibility or public charge policy, and it gives families a place they can trust for accurate information if federal policy changes.
