Upcoming online event in Hampton Roads and real-world events in DC and Arlington.
HAMPTON ROADS, Va.
Join
us on 22 January 2025, to learn about the dangers of nuclear war and
how you can join people in Hampton Roads working for nuclear
disarmament. As
the Doomsday Clock stands at 90 seconds to midnight and threats of
nuclear war have become commonplace, meet with us virtually on January
22nd, the 4th anniversary of the entry into force of the U.N. Treaty on
the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, to discuss and learn about
humanity's best chance for global, verifiable nuclear disarmament. Around
7 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Hampton Roads Campaign to Abolish
Nuclear Weapons will host a viewing of the documentary film, "Television Event." The movie examines the
dramatic climax of the Cold War through the lens of the ABC network, as
it narrowly succeeds in producing the most watched, most controversial
made-for-TV movie in US history, "The Day After,"--the story of Lawrence, Kansas during an all-out nuclear war.
After 6:30 pm, on Wednesday, January 22nd, the "
Television Event" will be available for viewing on Vimeo. It
is 90 minutes long, and to join the on-line discussion afterwards be
sure to start watching in time to finish before 8:30 pm. Here's the link:
