⚖️ Court Watch Training (Virtual)
Monday, February 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Court watching is a tactic to raise public awareness about our current legal system and also to hold the system accountable through witnessing, documenting, and sharing out. This is a powerful and critical tool for organizing because so much harm is never witnessed and then goes unchecked! Court watching is a tool of PEOPLE POWER against those in power! This training will be on how to court watch with MN Freedom Fund and then we'll have shifts for you to sign up for right away!
🎤 A 5×5 Reading Event* + Open Mic
Tuesday, February 4 at 7 p.m.
Join ReEntry Lab at Moon Palace Books, for our next 5×5 Reading, featuring five fantastic writers: Carolyn Holbrook, Louise Waakaa’igan, Marlin M. Jenkins, Rachel Moritz, and Ty Chapman. Each reader will have five minutes to share work; after the main reading, there will be a short break for refreshments, followed by an open mic period, when all are invited to share their work. This gathering, and the open mic afterward, will be hosted by Davi Gray, Erin Sharkey, and Louise Waakaa'igan. Light refreshments will be served; masks are required at Moon Palace Books. This is a free event!
🎨 SEEN: Community Day
Saturday, February 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Weisman Art Museum presents SEEN, an exhibition created as part of a years-long collaboration with We Are All Criminals (WAAC), curated by WAAC director and founder, Emily Baxter. The seven installations stretch the bounds of the museum as a site for community engagement and critical examination of American carceral institutions. Join us for the opening day with artist-led programming, various art activations, and activities in Open Studio. Hearty snacks and warm drinks will be provided throughout the day. All events and activities are free.
🌿 Heal the Healers Convening
Thursday, February 27 through Saturday, March 1
Hosted by the ROOT project at Nexus Community Partners, this pivotal, three-day event will be a transformative sanctuary of rest, reflection, and rejuvenation amidst workshops on holistic care and professional growth. As an act of revolution and movement building, attendees will immerse themselves in sessions advocating the necessity of self-care, from meditation techniques to stress management. Experts will share insights on how creating portals of rest and nourishing rest practices prevents burnout, fosters resilience, and nurtures mental health.
