Do you know what drives us crazy? Immigration law has become so politicized that it’s preventing law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from doing their jobs. Scott Jenkins, sheriff of Culpeper County in Virginia, cooperated with ICE and complied with the law regarding the transfer of an illegal immigrant released from jail. The Legal Aid Justice Center of Falls Church filed a class-action lawsuit against Jenkins for doing his job!
Thankfully, the federal district judge on the case ruled in favor of Jenkins. Unfortunately, not all cases like this have a happy ending. If it were a different judge, Jenkins may not have been so lucky. That’s the unfortunate reality when it comes to immigration now. Politics dictate whether judges will side with the law or the lawless.
In other news, Democrats are “colluding” with the Chinese after they dragged out a long, expensive and baseless investigation against President Trump on Russia collusion. While the trade war between President Trump and China heats up and tensions rise, 2020 hopeful Kamala Harris announced on live television, “she would get rid of those tariffs China wants gone.” To help influence her standing in the highly competitive race for the Democratic nomination, she’s playing a dangerous game with a country that regularly steals intellectual property and technology from America. The media was, of course, silent on this issue. Are we surprised that even as the Democrats make baseless accusations against President Trump, they are doing the exact same thing they accuse him of doing? No, of course we aren’t.
Rand Paul is mistaken. It’s not often I say that, so let me explain.
